Road bikes are especially designed to be fast, they have bigger gears and an aerodynamic riding position alleviates strain on your joints. Road bikes have a much lighter and narrower frame than standard bikes, lighter and smoother tyres which are made for speed. 

Road biked come in steel, aluminium, titanium, carbon fibre or a mixture of the two. Steel is the strongest yet still offers flexibility and is often a good value option for beginner road cyclists. Aluminium on the other hand will give a faster ride but has slightly stiffer turns when on the road. Titanium framed bikes are strong, light and very durable and excellent option for experienced riders who want optimum performance. Competitive cyclists may opt for Carbon Fibre bikes which are extremely light and perfectly balances. 

There are various types of road bikes to choose from, each with different features  catering to specific road biking needs. They can be broadly categorised into two main types; racing bikes and endurance bikes.
